# BlurFirst

> BlurFirst is a browser extension that blurs sensitive content — salary columns, API keys, client names, Slack DMs — directly on a web page before you screen-share on Zoom, Google Meet or Loom. The blur is rendered into the page as real pixels, so any capture or recording only ever sees the blur. Everything you blur stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

## What it is
- A Chromium browser extension (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera today; Firefox and Safari in progress).
- Purpose: hide on-screen sensitive information before and during screen sharing.
- Works with every screen-sharing and recording tool because the blur is painted into the page itself — it does not hook into Zoom, Meet, Loom or any specific app.

## How it works
- Scan (automatic PII detection, Pro) — one click finds and blurs common sensitive content in a single pass: emails, phone numbers, credit-card numbers, SSNs and API keys. Detection runs entirely in the browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Box — drag a rectangle over any region; it frosts over and stays locked to that content as you scroll.
- Element — hover to highlight, click to blur a single element (a cell, header, card); click again to reveal.
- Panic — one keyboard shortcut (Ctrl/⌘ ⇧ H) blurs the entire page instantly, for when something unexpected appears mid-share.
- Per-site profiles persist between sessions and can auto-apply on load (Pro).

## Privacy
- 100% local: the content you blur never leaves your browser and is never screenshotted or uploaded.
- The only network request BlurFirst makes is a license-key check, on activation and an occasional re-check.
- Per-site persistence stores which element was blurred (a selector), never the content inside it.

## Pricing
- Monthly: $5/month, billed immediately, cancel anytime.
- Yearly: $49/year, includes a 5-day free trial (card not charged until it ends) — about $4.08/month.
- Lifetime: one-time payment, $70 for the first 100 buyers, then $100.
- All plans unlock every feature. Billing is handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record.

## Limitations (stated honestly)
- Only affects content inside a browser tab — not native apps, other windows, or the whole desktop. A desktop app that does this is in development.
- Automatic Scan detects common patterns (emails, phones, cards, SSNs, API keys) but not free-text names or context-dependent secrets — pair it with a quick manual pass.
- Cannot run on browser internal pages (chrome://) or extension store pages.
