How to Blur Google Calendar During Screen Sharing — Hide Event Titles, Guests and Video Links

Presenting with Google Calendar open? Here's how to hide event titles, guest names and emails, video-call links, the mini-calendar and your other calendars before you share your screen.

To keep your schedule private while screen sharing Google Calendar (calendar.google.com), blur the event grid, the details panel and the sidebar before you present — box-blur the areas that stay put and element-blur individual events. A calendar quietly leaks a lot: interview slots, medical appointments and 1:1s that name people, plus every guest's email and the video-call link inside each event.

What a shared Google Calendar gives away

  • Event titles — the grid itself spells out sensitive plans: Interview — candidate, Therapy, Oncology follow-up, 1:1 with <name>, Offer call — company. These are readable without opening anything.
  • Guest names and emails — opening an event lists every attendee's name and email address, plus their RSVP status.
  • Video-call links — the Google Meet or Zoom join link and dial-in sit inside the event, and a shared link is a live door into a meeting.
  • Event descriptions — agendas, notes, phone numbers, addresses and attached docs pasted into the description.
  • The mini-calendar — the small month view in the sidebar reveals which days are busy.
  • Other calendars in the sidebar — the My calendars and Other calendars lists name people and resources you've subscribed to (a partner's calendar, an Interviews calendar, a client's shared calendar).

Day, week and month views expose different amounts

Choose your view deliberately before you share. Month view shows the most event titles at once but truncates them, so many partial titles are visible. Week and Day views show fewer events but with fuller titles and precise times. Schedule (agenda) view lists titles as plain text, top to bottom. Whichever you present, the grid and the sidebar are the two regions to blur — the grid because titles live there, the sidebar because it names your other calendars and shows the mini-calendar.

How to blur Google Calendar specifically

    Pick your view and share one window

    Switch to the view you'll actually present (often Day or Week for a single meeting), then share only the browser window with Calendar open.

Why calendar sharing settings don't cover this

Google Calendar's sharing and visibility settings — See all event details vs See only free/busy, or making a calendar public — control what other people see when they open your calendar in their own account. During a screen share none of that applies: you're viewing your own calendar as yourself, so full details are on screen. Blurring controls what the audience watching your screen sees, which is a different problem from access permissions and works alongside them.

Can I show my free/busy times without revealing event titles?

Yes. Box-blur the event grid so the colored blocks and their times still show your availability, while the titles inside them are frosted. That lets you find a slot on a call without reading out what each meeting is.

Does this hide guest emails when I open an event?

Yes. Open the event and use element blur on the guest list and the description. You can reveal a single field — say, the agenda you want to discuss — while attendee emails and the Meet link stay hidden.

Will the blurs survive switching between day, week and month views?
