How to Blur ClickUp Tasks and Workspace Data When Screen Sharing
Hide Space and List names, task titles, assignees, dollar fields, comments, and Dashboard widgets in ClickUp before you share your screen — in List, Board, or Gantt view.
To hide Space and List names, task titles, and dollar fields in ClickUp while you present, use a browser blur extension like BlurFirst to region-blur the sidebar and element-blur sensitive columns and widgets before you share your screen. The blur is painted into the page as real pixels, so it survives Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Loom, and OBS. ClickUp runs in the browser, so BlurFirst covers the sidebar hierarchy, a List's List, Board, or Gantt view, the task detail, and your Dashboards.
What to hide in ClickUp before you present
ClickUp nests a lot of structure — Spaces, Folders, Lists, and tasks — and the sidebar alone can map out your whole business. Cover these before a shared or recorded call:
- Space, Folder, and List names in the sidebar, which often read as client names or confidential workstreams.
- Task names that name clients, deals, or projects.
- Assignee avatars, so an external audience does not learn who owns what.
- Custom fields you added — the Status, Priority, and client columns specific to your workflow.
- Dollar and estimate fields — Money custom fields and Time Estimates that carry budgets and effort.
- Comments in the task's activity thread, where the candid notes live.
- Dashboard widgets — the Revenue, Workload, and burndown cards that total sensitive metrics.
List, Board, and Gantt views expose different things
ClickUp shows the same List through many view types, and the gesture you reach for changes with the view.
List view
The List view is a grouped table: task names on the left, then Assignee, custom fields, and any Money or estimate columns. Region-blur a whole column, or element-blur individual task names and cells.
Board view
The Board view spreads tasks across status columns as cards. Element-blur the card titles that name clients, or region-blur a status column when the column name gives away a stage.
Gantt and Timeline
Gantt and Timeline put dates and dependencies on display. Region-blur the date axis and the task bars to talk through sequencing without committing to dates on camera.
Task detail and Dashboards
Opening a task shows its description, custom fields, and comment thread — element-blur any of those. On a Dashboard, element-blur the Revenue, Workload, or burndown widgets so you can show the layout without the numbers.
- 1
Open the exact view you will share
Load the List (List, Board, or Gantt), the task, or the Dashboard you plan to present and scroll into position.
- 2
Start blurring
Press Ctrl/⌘ ⇧ Y to open BlurFirst on the page.
- 3
Region-blur the sidebar
Drag a rectangle over the Space, Folder, and List hierarchy in the left sidebar so your other workstreams stay private. The box stays anchored as you scroll.
- 4
Region-blur sensitive columns
In List view, cover the Assignee, Money, or estimate column so it stays hidden down the page.
- 5
Element-blur tasks, fields, and widgets
Click a task name, a custom-field value, a comment, or a Dashboard widget to hide just that element; click again to reveal.
- 6
Scan for PII
Run Scan (Pro) to auto-detect and blur emails, phone numbers, and API keys in task descriptions and comments — locally, with nothing leaving the browser.
- 7
Save a per-site profile
Save the layout as a per-site profile (Pro). ClickUp re-renders as a single-page app when you switch Lists or open tasks, and the profile re-applies your blurs afterward.
- 8
Keep panic ready
If a client name lands in a comment mid-call, press Ctrl/⌘ ⇧ H to blur the whole page instantly.
